Bittern Lake Lodge...Part II

Holy....are you impressed? Four days in a row...not sure if that ever happened before!

My page here is once again inspired by a Donna Downey 48 Weeks project.  Being that Donna does hers in an A3 Sketchbook (16x22" closed) and I am doing mine on a 8.5x11...it is kinda challenging (in a good way).  I start by creating a pattern, in circles all over the page,  I got creative and used water bottle tops, dropper tops, and stencils (TCW-RF2024 Rubber Bands, TCW454 Specimen, TCW259 Reverse Chicken Wire)

I then added some writing using my Fineline Applicator

My color palette was Dina Wakley Media Heavy Body Acrylics in Lemon, Magenta and a mix of Lapis & Turquoise.  I apologise for my lack of photos, but when you are on a roll you tend to forget to take pictures!  The center is Night, and I tried to do some funky stuff that did not turn out funky in a good way...hence the addition of the white!

Once it was dried, I did a glaze and added another stencil (THS011 Schoolhouse).  I also added some lines using my Liquitex Paint Marker in Black.  I am still undecided on this one.  The good news is that all I had to do was turn the page and I was able to forget about it and move on to the next one (or in this case, move it out of the way and start in another journal).

The next one caught my eye on pinterest.  It is an old tutorial from Julie Fei-Fan Balzer's blog a few years back.  As usual, I am sure you will look and say "WTH", but I will once again say..."I was inspired by it!"

In the photo below (again, sorry for lack of pix), you can see my color palette and kinda what I used.  My base was Tim Holtz Distress Ink (Peeled Paint) applied with a variety of stamped images,  then layers of Tissue Paper & tape.  I then added a good rough coat of heavy gesso using my palette knife as to create texture. I started adding more green by first using some Lindy's Stamp Gang Little Lindy's in Green, added water along the way and once dried, I added the Archival (Re)Inkers.  Now that was an ah ha moment for sure!  Love the look and feel of it on the page.

Now it was time to added some paper layers.  I simply dug into my tickle trunk (okay, very large bag) and pulled out what I thought would work from my ephemera file!

Still thought it needed more, so added some Tim Holtz Remnants (Words)

Next one is a total inspired by...Marta Lapkowska!  Pretty sure I saw it on her Blog (via Pinterest), but I will say this...I can't find it to link to it (sorry)!  I did this one in my Dyan Reaveley Dylusions Art Journal (large) using Super Heavy Gel Medium through a Prima Stencil (Basket).  Note this medium takes a long time to dry, so this is where I put it aside for the night and finish it up in the morning.  But I won't make you wait!

My color palette was once again Lindy's with an addition of Heidi Swapp Color Shine and Ranger Ink Adirondack Color Wash.

I used a mix this time around as I wanted the purple to be more prominent. The pack I used from Lindy's was called Haunted Halloween, which I thought was going to be really purple...nope! So the addition of the two purples sure helped out.

This page is still at this state as I need to add string/fibre to it and have yet to decide on how I want to do it!

This next one is once again back to Donna Downey Inspired!  I believe it is an old Inspiration Wednesday one (but you can quote me on it).  After prepping the pages with Absorbent Ground, I randomly added strips of masking tape over the entire page (including the insert).  I then started coloring with Twinkling H20's

Once it was dried, I stamped an image on the left hand page using a (Unity Stamp) Donna Downey stamp and Gelatos (Steam Punk set) and then the words where done in the same format.

The 'poppy' is from the Donna Downey Studio Stencil Collection (Poppy Collage) and I used a wet brush and Twinkling H20's.  Might have been a bit heavy handed on the water, but I am okay with it.  The numbers are a stamped image using Ranger Ink Archival Jet Black Ink and Dyan Reaveley Dylusions Stamp Basic Backgrounds.

Now it is time to get back into my Izinks (with a little help from **). Again, inspired by Donna Downey's (Design Gang Andrea Walford), here is my take....

Donna Downey Studio Stencil - She Chooses

(Unity Stamp) Donna Downey Anastasia {Believes}

Thinking that the white was not showing up, I layered the stencil over top and finger painted it with Black. I used more of the Dina Wakley paints to finger paint the letters in the word 'color'.  I colored Anastasia using a mix of Twinkling H20's and watercolor pencils.

This next one is an epic one! Started it Sunday morning and was not able to actually finish it until late Sunday night (major drying time)!  This is another Marta Lapkowska inspired by!

Is this not the coolest page ever!  Everything was applied using Light Modeling Paste and a Palette Knife.  Now to let it dry for  6 hours!!

Here comes some color! Choice Lindy's of course!  Layers and Layers of color and water.

Acetate Butterfly printed of from Pinterest.  The random threads are left overs from the canvas I tore up to put on the page.  I used Glossy Accents to hold them down.

The last page I had a chance to work on was another Pinterest inspired...

Sadly, I took very few pictures on this one!  The base are coffee filter words (Christy Tomlinson) then layers colors (Lindy's and Dina) over Modeling Paste through Crafter's Workshop Stencil Chevron (TCW227).  The black paint is actually Night, by Dina Wakley and the Butterfly stamp is from Unity Stamps.

That was it for me...here are a few more shots of the girls and their work...

What a great and productive weekend....until be meet again Bittern!
