Friday Findings... and a new Tim color!

Happy Friday everyone!  I am taking the morning off before I head down the mountain to set up for the season ending crop with "Valley Scrapbooking" hosted by the City of Merritt Rec Dept. This is my second year attending and am excited to see everyone again.

I left Cold Lake Tuesday morning and made the first third of my trip to just outside of Drayton Valley to a friends place so the drive wouldn't be too long (total trip door step to door step is 1362 km) - one would think I should have driven further - but then I couldn't have seen those I did in Drayton (see, there is a method to my madness).

Staying at Anita's for two nights gave me the chance to really visit and of course play!

This was my own private room for two nights...rough isn't it?!

We went for a walk on Anita's property after supper - it is beautiful!

Wednesday Morning we had a couple of hours before we each had to go do our 'appointments' so what did we do? What do you think? of course, we got our paint on!

Once back, we invited out our good friend Lisa (aka Maggie Mylow) and had a great supper and of course....

I got three pages done over the course of the morning and evening sessions...there were many interesting words flying around the room and we had a blast!

Trying out the Tim Holtz Distress Ink Sprays (Cracked Pistachio, Mermaid Lagoon & Abandoned Coral).  They work together, just not my color palette of choice.  I adhered a variety of ribbons and tapes onto the page simply by using Gesso!  Everything on the pages are items from Anita's room of goodies as I did not bring any of my own personal stuff (aside from my journals)

This was a challenge by Anita to use a paper I wouldn't normally use (I tried to use some Prima Sunrise Sunset and she made me give it back)! Jokes on her though as I kinda like the paper! The cover was missing on the pad, but we are pretty sure it is an older Crate Paper pack.  The colors this time around were Heidi Swapp Color Shines and the stencil is a Prima Decor 2 (575922) then of course finished it off with some black writing using the Fineline Applicator.

This one turned out to be my fave!  I colored with Dina Wakley Media Heavy Body Paints (Blackberry Violet, Tangerine & Lemon) then covered it all with black paint using the Crafter's Workshop Numbers Collage (6x6") TCW210s. Love Love LOVE how it turned out!  One the insert tag, I used the negative image by spraying a bit a water on the template and then putting it face down on the tag to get the remnant paint of it.

So, after cleaning up and getting to bed at a not so decent time...I was on the road by 9:30(ish) AB time and made it to Merritt 5:30pm BC time. So nine hours later and rain off and on from Hinton here...I made it to the end of the rainbow!

So now I best sign off and get going on the finishing touches for the classes....
I am teaching two classes this year -

Today also marks the first friday in June so of course the new Tim Holtz 2015 Color has been released...Hickory Smoke it the newest edition.  I for one, am very happy as
it is a color I am using frequently, lately anyway!

Tim has created a palette sheet for each new color (as released) so show how they fit into the Distress family.  I think it is a great idea.  If you click on the description above each photo, it will take you to his blog post for that month.  Here is what has been released so far...

I'm off , enough findings of one day! Have a great weekend everyone!
