No need to keep MUM about it any longer!

Well finally - it is here!

So many of you have asked for it and I am finally going ahead with it.  Here is the first kit for 2015!  For this one - I have labeled it "Leaving Your Mark"

This limited edition mark making kit includes many different textures and patterns that will provide interesting effects – simply use your imagination and don’t be afraid to go out of your comfort zone and beyond the product.
This kit is not just for art journaling. There is no reason you can’t use these items in your scrapbook pages as well. Enjoy the process and I look forward to seeing what kind of mark you will leave on your path to creativity.

Along with what is included in this kit (over 12 pcs), there are so many more ‘marks’ you can use.  The key is to look at an object differently. Look for texture, pattern and effect.

This collection of unique and interesting tools and products can be used in so many ways!  I have asked a guest to join in this month with her take on the kit - please Welcome Glenda Schoepp-Drake with her take on the kit.

This first project is done on an canvas and Glenda has used some great great techniques and was very inventive and adventurous in this project.  From the kit she included and used: wire mesh, rubber grip, silicone pad, shelf liners and the skewer.

can you pick out where she used it all?

This tag - Glenda used and included: shelf liner, sand paper & a rubber bracelet

This is a 12x12" again, Glenda has used her creative juices (I'd think they are simply genius) and included the wire mesh, sand paper, shelf liner, gripper, place mat and rubber bands!

I purposely did not tell Glenda what to do with the product, I wanted to see her genius go and go it did! She not only used it to create 'marks' but she actually used it ON her projects! Way to go Glenda, you once again knocked it out of this world!  To see more of Glenda's work, be sure to check out her blog!

I had hoped to get more samples done to share with you - but alas...the shop and the crop simply took up too much time (not that I am complaining)! I chose to use most of mine as actual 'mark making' tools...here's a peak!

The wire mesh was used to create texture by dragging it through the paints, then I used it as a stencil and sprayed through it.

A comb is a great tool for creating texture through paints and gels!

pulled out my handy brayer - rolled out the paint on the craft mat then then onto the silicone mat!

Now I simply used it as a stamp!

Added more color and repeated.

Can you see the stamp....

a small twist - roll up the silicone mat, wrap with some elastics and roll in paints and onto your page.

Dipped the button into black paint and stamped the page.

The cool thing with mark making - is you can make it your own and you are only limited by your imagination!

So here it  is...there are only 6 available  2 left!  Get them while you can...

It will start shipping Tuesday January 27, and go Canada Post Oversized Letter Mail.

Here are some more samples using this kit!

See you next month with a great NEW kit full of wonderful product that will surely inspire you too!

Takeover Thursday!

Happy New Year everyone!   I'm back talking over Wendy's blog.

Have you fallen for the planner craze that's sweeping through the craft industry?

I have always used planning tools, an old notebook, a calendar on the wall, my cell phone...anything to keep me on track.    I've taken inspiration from all the company's making planners and made my own from what I have.  Not because I don't like the ones available but more over because I like to be different and I'm committed to using what I've got (so I can buy more!)

A couple years ago I won a package from Basic Grey, but just set it aside as I don't really use small binders, so I thought I could use that.

I pulled out all the supplies I had left from that win and went to work assembling it.

I soon realized I didn't have near enough inserts so I grabbed a smash book I had filled, went to the back of it and cut out the remaining pages.   I lined them up with the binder, punched holes and inserted them randomly.

That made me think about all the scraps I have lying around, or older paper I have that's a bit too thin for my pages..well let's just say the book will be a work in progress and possibilities are endless!

For the cover I pulled out my mixed media supplies and played.  I applied gesso to the front, covered it with a light coat of Antique Linen Distress Paint and scribbled on some gelatos (OH how I love those things)

Inspired I grabbed my new Prima Stencil and applied heavy modeling paste through it.  I was hopeful it would absorb the color from the gelatos, but when I want that it doesn't happen!  So I began applying paints to color the flowers.

Finally the band on the side bothered me so I took some chipboard Thickers and painted them with Distress Paint in Aged Mahogany and Picked Raspberry. Once dry I used my Matte Medium to apply.  They are stickers but I find chipboard needs to be glued.  A little accenting with paint on the edges and I call it done.

I used similar techniques on the back..that I love!!

So 2015 is in the works, I have a lovely binder to put my notes and ideas in, and a place for things to go before I scrap them. Best of all I was able to creatively use my stash.

I hope you take some time to play and have fun this month!

Anita!

See more of me over on Facebook! While you're there, if you already haven't, be sure to like me and W2!

MUM's the word!

Huh?

                                      MUM?

So what is W2's Mix Ur Media (aka - MUM)?  Well simply, it is going to be a limited edition as well as a LIMITED QUANTITIES Monthly Kit. I have been working hard collecting items and products that I will use for these monthly kits.

Each kit will have a theme.  Some may seem more geared towards art journaling, some more towards scrapbooking, all can easily be used for BOTH!  My goal is to keep the price under $20.00 (CDN)....including shipping (US customers, $25.00 due to shipping rates)!  These kits will be a selection of all kinds of items, not ever being a complete pack of any one thing.  I really want to encourage you to think outside the product and therefore your comfort zone...in a good way! If the item does not fit within the Canada Post requirements for 'Oversized Lettermail' it will not be in one of my kits.  I am choosing to do this so the price can stay under the stated cap.  This should also encourage to to use what is in the kit and not continue to 'build' your stash, and with any luck...inspire you to use more products - perhaps in a new way!  Many items will be 'consumable' others, you will be able to use again and again!

Kits will be released on the last Monday of each month.  There will be no requirements or commitments to sign up for "X" number of months.  Simply, it will be first come first serve.  All kits will be purchased through this blog via the Buy Now button at the bottom of that month's kit post.

The morning of the release I will post the price and number of kits available, along with photos of the kit and sample projects.  Remember, there will be limited quantities, so once they are gone....they are gone for good!  I will never repeat a kit.  Also, being that there will be so many different and unique items at times, not all kits will be identical.  I will do my best to keep them as close as possible of course.  Kits will be mailed out that day or the following (Canada Post permitting).

So what is coming first?  Here is a teaser for you...

See you here on Monday January 26th!
