My Weekend Getaway - Part 2

More fun projects during my weekend away with my girlfriends (May 3-6, 2018)

Stencil Play

Using one of Shawn Petite's stencils Geometric Triangles , I started layering the stencil on a sheet of gesso'd watercolor paper using some of my favorite go to colors lately - DecoArt Media Titan Buff, Medium Grey Value 6, Titanium White and Bone Black Fluid Acrylics.

It needed a pop of color, so I snagged some paint from one of my girlfriends across the table - DecoArt Americana Neon Lights Peach Punch and Golden's Fluorescent Magenta. I also introduced more 'triangle' shapes - this time using Stencil Girl Products stencils by Rae MissigmanRows of Triangles to start with.

I offset and layered throughout the piece.

I continued to add layers of colors and stencils - Rae's Quilled Arrow  and Carabelle Studios Art Template Calligraphy Composition (TE40108)

I continue to move. flip, flop, turn and rotate the template/stencil over the page to get the fullness I am after.

More Stencil Playtime

Using another Shawn Petite stencil - (sorry, not sure of the name as it is no longer on her site). I pieced areas on the gesso'd watercolor paper using Prima's Heavy Gesso in Black. The gray you see on the background is some of the remaining wax mixture.  I just wanted to see if I could get some resist happening along the way...

spraying a good amount of water onto the one side of the page, I dripped some Golden High Flow acrylic (Indigo)

I added more water and move the paint around - tip, turn and draw/mark make and add more color (Raw Umber)....

Not really liking where it was going - I dried it and added more stencil coverage picking and choosing the areas of the stencil I wanted to use.

It's simple, but I quite like how it came out.  I will scan it and no double use it in future art pieces.

Collage Journal

I hadn't worked in this journal for some time now, so since I had a good amount of my vintage papers with me, I thought it a great time to do a page in it!

This journal is strictly vintage papers in a collage format - simply to get paper onto paper and try new ways to use it and have fun.

It again starts with me simply putting down papers in a collage format that I like.  This page was an older one that I tried scraping down some gel medium and putting printed tissue down on it.  Once it was dried, I torn it off. So the areas where there was not enough or no adhesive, the tissue came away.  All these papers are from various Etsy shops I frequent (Sawatsky's Creations and Julie Kirk)

I adhere the paper down using a collage medium - Traci Baustista's Collage Pauge, one layer at a time.

Note the layers, I use just about anything! There is an hand sewn envelope that was included as an extra shop gift from Rebecca (Sawatsky's Creations) and I of course had to keep it and use it!

The inclusion of the tag in the hand sewn envelope was a perfect home! Note, the tag was from a recent purchase of new jeans!

Journal Collage Cover

Another mini journal to either sketch in, collage in or simply journal in one way or another.  The idea is from Roben-Marie and I have of course just ran with it and made it my own.

These papers are again from Etsy finds and you will see I once again used printed labels (circular) that I had scanned some favorite pieces and printed off onto labels.

All papers were adhered again using the Traci Bautista Collage Pauge.

Simple paint accents using my palette knife and white paint (usually gesso, but sometimes actual paint)!
