Project 6!

This project was inspired by the new Heidi Swapp Memory System.  I had watched a video of her from CHA (W2012) and of course thought I would try playing around with it...in kraft of course!

I used some kraft letter file folders; Maya Road Kraft Notes & Envelopes, Vintage Edge Kraft Envelopes, Time Flies Kraft Clocks; Heidi Swapp Foto Files; Canvas Corp 3x3" Kraft Envelopes; Ranger No.8 Kraft Shipping Tags; Making Memories Brun Antique Butterflies; and then eventually it will be covered by Studio Calico Classic Collection.

The 'embellishments' are only tacked on for now as I wanted to use the Studio Calico Classic Collection - which of course I didn't have with me!

For the tag below, I used the Ranger No.8 Shipping Tag and simply layered a punched sheet of paper (using my fav border punch Bubbles) and hand cut banner (stamped with Tim Holtz/Stampers Anonymous) and Time Flies Clock and then stitched across the top - voila!

This tag is simply three different sized and patterned butterflies layered onto the tag and then sewn up the center...tada!

The Heidi Swapp Foto Folios (sorry these are from my stash and are no longer available) are used for additional drama and of course interactiveness (is that even a word)?

now it is time to tell if I will actually get this thing done...or will I wait to get the new heidi swapp goodies when they arrive in the shop?

Project 5!

man - I'm on a roll here aren't I?  Here is yet another project, this one was made using 5 envelopes and a mini file folder!  Yup, that's it...aside from a bit of inspiration and few sheets of paper...that was it (oh, a punch and a sewing machine)!

I used two catalogue envelopes in white (10x13" & 12x9"), two No. 10 Policy Envelopes, one Heidi Swapp Foto Folder and one of the Maya Road Vintage Edge Kraft Envelopes.  Centered them all and then simply sewed them together!

The 12x9" catalogue envelope is a side flap so after I sewed them all together, I cut the flap at the seam to make it look like there were two separate envelopes...clear as mud right?!  The policy envelopes, I slit the ends to create a pocket for future ephemera.

I covered all the envelopes with cardstock - Bazzill Java, Pomegranate & Kraft.  The front and back are covered in Creative Imaginations Cuttables (Kraft).  The punched edge you see throughout is an EK Success Edger Punch - Bubbles (my new fav).

The cool thing about this album format is that it is so versatile!  One can leave it as is, or you can make it thicker by adding more envies per section or of course layer your sections!  You can either use the technique with adhering back to front covers, using paper hinges, and so much more!  This is one fun and fast album!

Project(s) 4!

This is where I took some time off the the brain strain and had some good ol' fun! I had just watched a video the day before I headed out to Rustic Ridge Ranch. It was a Tim Holtz video from CHA recorded by Mark Giles of Scrap Time and can be watched here.

I played with the Ranger Kraft Shipping Tags (#8) which so far work the best (tried using the #12 Manila on my canvas project - even though the effect was there, the texture was totally different). Here are all three...

The first one here is stamped first (using Ranger Archival Black Ink) then sprayed using the Ranger Ink Refresher to get this texture effect (see video). Inks for distressing were of course Gathered Twig (with an accent of Barn Door & Weathered Wood). The stamp set used is Stampers Anonymous Tim Holtz Collection Artful Artifacts.

The next tag, I sprayed with the Ink Refresher first, crinkled it up - dried it and then stamped the image. Distressed it with ink and then finished it off with Tsukineko Goosebumps Texture Spray. The stamp set used was Stampers Anonymous Tim Holtz Collection Fairy Tale Frenzy. Inks were same as listed above.

This final tag I tried something a little different yet again. I used the Pink Paislee Misting Mask along with Tim Holtz Distress Ink Faded Jeans. I then applied the Ink Refresher (which did make the ink bleed, but was still okay), once it was dried - I applied Picket Fence Distress Stain. Dried it and then added the stamped image and of course the Distress Inks in Gathered Twig, Weathered Wood & Faded Jeans. The stamped image is from the set Soulful Journey.

I totally recommend checking out the video listed at the beginning of this post - there is so much more on there than just this tag technique. I have so many more ideas I want to try using this basic technique - wonder what it will look like using a patterned sheet of paper or cardstock weight printed sheet? Only time will tell on that one...gonna just have to make the time and try!

Project 3!

Here is the next project I worked on - this is from waaaaay back in October! I started it at the last Tomahawk retreat. It is once again a Kathy Orta tutorial. This time I have used the Teresa Collins World Traveller Collection - LOVE this line!

Once again there are a ton of flaps and folds and an huge amount of 'real estate' to fill with pictures and journaling! This is the 'Build a Page' Tutorial and can be found & purchased here. You can also watch the video(s) on her Ustream channel here.

Supplies used: Teresa Collins World Traveler 12x12 Paper Pack (2); Teresa Collins World Traveler Sticker Sheet; misc Bazzill Cardstock in Curry & Raven; Stampin' Up Cardstock Red Riding Hood; Tim Holtz Hitch Fasteners; 7 Gypsies 6" Elastics; Tim Holtz Distress Inks Gathered Twig; adhesives - ATG, ScorTape & ProvoCraft Terrifically Tacky Tape.

Project 2!

Here is the next project I worked on and FINISHED! Yeah for me! This is a Kathy Orta project (Travel Tales) that I had worked on during the Christmas break (see original post here) - it took a ton of time but must say the finished project is pretty amazing! It is my own twist to it - and must say i am pretty happy with the outcome! I decided to make this a standard album vs the gatefold it is supposed to be and then instead of having a 'closure' I made this chipboard 'sleeve'!

The charms are from Michael's and can usually be picked up in the jewelry section and are often on sale!

Here is a 'group' shot of all the guts for the album. There are six pages and each 'page' has two pockets and allows for two inserts. One insert I made the suggested folio (tri-folded 8.5x11 sheet of cardstock) and the other I did a No.12 Shipping Tag (trimmed to fit) and used a different technique with inks for each one.

This is the bonus 'passport' project that is included in the tutorial, I just slipped it into the back of the album for added storage of ephemera.

I highly recommend Kathy's tutorials - they are well made (usually) pretty easy to understand. One thing I will suggest is that you also watch her Ustream Videos as you get loads of other info for each project. You can watch her videos here but please note this post for important info on the videos.

Supplies used: Cardstock - Bazzill Kraft in both 8.5x11" and 12x12"; Papers - 7 Gypsies Camden Paper Packs in both 8x8" & 12x12"; 7 Gypsies Ring Knob in Antique Silver (that I had to change the color to coordinate - worked pretty good); 7 Gypsies Display Trims Pyramid Studs Antique Brass; Adhesives - Provo Craft Terrifically Tacky Tape, ScorTape & ATG; Inks - Tim Holtz Distress Ink Gathered Twig; Chipboard - Grafix Medium Weight; Tags - No.12.

Project 1!

Well - that week is (just about) over! Where the heck did it go? I got back Sunday night from my annual trip to Rustic Ridge Ranch where I had a ton of fun and actually got some stuff done! My goal for the weekend was to get all those unfinished projects that I have started over the last year (or so) - so did I finish them all you ask....how well do your know me?! I got TWO done, that is pretty good! But I did start three more and got to play a bit too! Sit back and enjoy....here is the first!

Project 1 - 7 Gypsies Canvas

This was a blast to make and really didn't take that much time! The longest was the cutting out of the dang little girl (and yes, I cut out all by myself)!

The paper is from 7 Gypsies Off the Wall 12x12 paper pack. I used a variety of paints from Claudine Hellmuth's Studio Line as well as Ranger's Adirondack Dabbers. The letters are Tim Holtz Alpha Parts Ransom. The entire canvas was sealed with Claudine Hellmuth's Paint Mediums.

Behind the girl is a #12 Shipping Tag (top cut off) and I had some fun playing with a fairly new technique Tim Holtz shared in a recent video (here), careful it is a very addictive technique! The tag and the girl are both sprayed with Tsukineko Goosebumps Texture Spray (okay, more fun to be had with this one)! The 'grass' at the bottom was made using Wendy Vecchi's Clearly for Art Blackout Modeling Film (okay, just a little more fun)! The Ruler of course is once again 7 Gypsies Surveyor Brown and topped with some Display Trim Studs Antique Brass. I of course 'distressed' it all with some sandpaper using my Tim Holtz Sanding Grip.

Finished it all off with a simple Tim Holtz Corner! Not bad, eh?! To see the original post and inspiration - visit One Lucky Day here!
